Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the ruling BJP government in Karnataka of being a “purchased” government that was not elected by the people, but rather bought with money looted from them. Speaking at an interaction with sugarcane growers, Gandhi appealed to voters to ensure a victory for at least 150 Congress candidates in the upcoming elections, while limiting the BJP to just 40 seats.
Gandhi went on to criticize the present state of farmers and small traders, alleging that the country’s resources were being diverted to benefit two capitalists, Gautam Adani and Ambani. He further highlighted that while these two capitalists were granted loans and waivers worth lakhs of crores, farmers’ loans had not been waived.
Speaking on the difficulties faced by sugarcane growers, Gandhi promised that Congress, if voted to power, would ensure a uniform price for sugarcane across the state and make honest efforts to resolve farmers’ problems. He claimed that the Congress party’s motto was to protect the interests of farmers.
The interaction was attended by All India Congress Committee in charge of Karnataka Randeep Surjewala and other party members.
