An Indian man travelling from New York to Delhi on an American Airlines flight was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly urinating on a co-passenger during an argument, according to sources. The accused passenger was reportedly drunk and caused a “disruption on board” the flight, which led to the airline staff taking appropriate action. The victim has filed a formal complaint with the airline.
This is not the first incident of its kind. In recent months, several incidents of passengers urinating on co-flyers have been reported, allegedly after consuming alcohol. In March, an Indian student at a US university was banned by American Airlines after he allegedly urinated on a co-passenger. In November 2022, a drunk man allegedly urinated on an elderly woman in the business class of an Air India flight, and in December of the same year, a passenger had allegedly urinated on a vacant seat of a co-flyer on an Air India flight to Delhi from Paris.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation will further investigate the matter as per its internal procedure, according to sources.
